Renee Maler
As the director and co-founder of philosophy PR + marketing, Renee Maler brings nearly 20 years of professional communications
experience to her clients, including 16 years of consulting for
high-technology companies. Renee carries an exceptional track record
of success – augmenting existing teams as well as spearheading new
efforts to deliver all aspects of public relations, analyst relations
and customer reference programs.
Renee’s media and analyst relations work have taken companies from
start-up to growth phases to acquisition or public offering. Her
extensive customer outreach and strong analyst relationships have
netted her clients consistent, positive coverage from tier-one media
outlets and analyst firms. Renee’s strong relationship-building
efforts have raised awareness of her clients as market share leaders –
in some cases, even extremely early on in a company’s lifecycle.
Renee’s comprehensive customer reference program has been the
cornerstone to PR/analyst success as well as to speaker programs and
high-level investor relations. Her clients, as well as their partners
and customers with whom she has worked, include: Apple Computer, Blue
Pumpkin/Witness Systems, Calabrio, Cisco Systems, 3Com, HighTech
Connect, Infopia, Nextance, Select International, Tangoe, Women in
Consulting, Avaya, Siemens, Nissan Motor Corp., Boeing, Blue
Cross/Blue Shield, America Online, Time Warner and many others.
Renee earned her
B.A. in journalism, with a minor in psychology, from California
Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
Patrick Lin, Ph.D.
Co-founder Patrick Lin brings a new
kind of expertise to corporate and market communications – given his
unique blend of experience from university teaching, legislative work
in Washington D.C., technology savvy from Silicon Valley and
an impressive track-record in public relations and business management.
Patrick was formerly an account manager at the legendary public
relations agency Niehaus Ryan Wong, known for launching Yahoo! and
Netflix as well as its work with Apple, Pixar and other leaders. He
has worked with start-ups to established companies such as Covisint
(venture founded by Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler, et al.), Volkswagen,
Nextel, Sprint PCS, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, Omnisky,
Siemens, Business Objects, Veritas, JetBlue, eBay, E*TRADE, Blue Cross
Blue Shield, Medtronic, Telus and other market makers.
With an academic focus on ethics and critical thinking, Patrick is involved with
strategy and writing initiatives for the firm’s clients. He is
also active in speaking and publishing about technology & societal issues, given his positions at Dartmouth College, Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), US Naval Academy, Western Michigan University
and other organizations.
Active in community affairs, Patrick has served on the board of
directors for Make-A-Wish Foundation and Foodbank in Santa Barbara.
He was also involved with the Ronald McDonald House and other
non-profits in San Francisco. Patrick received his B.A. in
philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley, and he
earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of
California at Santa Barbara.
Mike Lin, M.B.A.
As
a management and marketing consultant, Mike Lin specializes in helping
professionals and companies communicate and market themselves more
effectively. Previously a manager in Accenture's CRM practice,
Mike has consulted to Fortune 500 companies as well as managed
multi-million dollar projects. His clients included
Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America, BellSouth, Sprint PCS, International
Paper, Equifax, State of Maryland and State of Florida. He started his
career in sales and marketing at Turner Broadcasting System,
eventually becoming the youngest account executive in the history of
Turner Network Sales.
In his
public relations strategy and communications work, Mike has also
lectured at leading universities, including UC Berkeley's Haas School
of Business, UC Davis and Georgetown University. Mike graduated
from the University of Virginia with a double major in rhetoric &
communication studies and sociology. He also has an M.B.A. from the
McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.
John Love, M.B.A.
John
has 25 years of high-tech marketing experience, spanning B2B and B2C
companies offering a wide range of hardware, software and
Internet-based products and services. John has held senior
positions in marketing and communications at Apple Computer, Blue
Pumpkin, Claris Corporation (now FileMaker, Inc.), Blue Martini
Software and Logitech. He has helped start-ups and market
leaders across a wide spectrum of industries including consumer
hardware, online commerce, enterprise and consumer software, BPO and
business services, open source web technologies and consumer digital
audio.
John holds an M.B.A. degree from Santa Clara University, where he
earned membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, and a B.S. in
Computer Science from Northwestern University.
